The red counterpoint to Mullineux's estate white — a Syrah-driven blend from Roundstone Farm, the family vineyard on the Kasteelberg's southwestern slopes (acquired 2014). The schist soils give Swartland Syrah its calling-card profile: peppery, savory, lifted, more Northern Rhône than New World. Andrea and Chris Mullineux farm organically and bottle restrained, perfumed reds that have helped redraw expectations of what South African Syrah can be. The 2023 Roundstone is fragrant and brambly, with crushed blue fruit, cracked black pepper, dried purple flowers and a saline, mineral close.
