Founded in 2006 by Joan Asens, who had worked in medical distribution until his 60s before returning to his family's land in Catalonia. The vineyards are in Falset, at 400-500 meters elevation in the southern part of D.O. Montsant, with vines averaging 60-70 years old on decomposed slate (llicorella) soils. Certified organic. Orto is 100% Garnacha fermented with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel, open-top concrete, and clay amphorae. Aged 12 months in neutral oak and clay. Total production around 8,000 bottles annually.
