Renaissance, Sancerre Les Marnes, 2023

Renaissance was born when brothers Mathieu and Benoit Fleuriet took over a friend's Sancerre vines after a serious illness, farming them organically and biodynamically and making the wines as naturally as they can. Les Marnes comes from rocky, sedimentary marl soils, the source of the estate's most textured, ethereal cuvee. It's Sauvignon Blanc that trades zingy aromatics for depth and weight on the palate. The 2023 is rich and layered, a Sancerre for the table rather than the patio.
