Thibaud Boudignon, Anjou Blanc, 2024
Anjou Blanc as it should be — and one of the great Chenin bargains in the Loire. Thibaud Boudignon has, in just over fifteen years, become a defining name in Loire Chenin: biodynamic farming, hands-on viticulture across schist, volcanic rhyolite, and sand-over-schist parcels in the heart of Anjou and Savennières. This entry-tier Anjou Blanc comes from roughly 35-year-old vines on grey schist and rhyolite, fermented with indigenous yeasts (no malolactic), aged in 228L, 350L, and 500L barrels with about 20% new oak. The result is Chenin in three dimensions — citrus, beeswax, and stone — at a price the Savennières bottlings can only dream of.
