Weingut Brand, The Electric Acid Test Chardonnay, 2025
Brothers Daniel and Jonas Brand work the lesser-known far-northern Pfalz, around the village of Bockenheim, where the soils turn cool and limestone-rich and the feel is gritty and agricultural rather than polished. The Electric Acid Test is exactly what its name promises: a no-nonsense natural white built on piercing acidity and bright citrus lift. It is mostly Chardonnay with a splash of Riesling, organically farmed without synthetic pesticides, made with a hands-off, low-sulfur approach. The 2025 is tart, crisp and a little funky but very approachable. Serve it well-chilled as a wake-up-call aperitif or an all-purpose dinner white.
