Chateau Quinault L’Enclos, Saint-Emilion, 1998
Château Quinault L'Enclos became a Saint-Emilion Grand Cru Classé in 2012. Origins believed to date to the 17th century, located in Libourne suburbs near the Dordogne River. In 1930, negociant Baptiste Mons purchased the property; the estate later lost 8 hectares to cemetery expropriation. In 1997, Alain Raynaud acquired it and transformed the estate, switching to hand harvesting. In September 2008, it was purchased by Bernard Arnault (LVMH) and Albert Frère, joining their portfolio with Château Cheval Blanc. The estate farms 15.6 hectares planted to 65% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Malbec. The 1998 is one of the first vintages under Raynaud's ownership.
