Cieck, Erbaluce di Caluso Misobolo, 2022
Azienda Agricola Cieck was founded in 1985 by Remo Falconieri—nicknamed "the Archimedes of bubbles"—a typewriter designer at Olivetti who traveled to France to learn sparkling wine production. He released his first vintage in 1987 and helped elevate Erbaluce's profile, contributing to its DOCG recognition in 2010. The Misobolo vineyard is a historic site over 50 years old embracing the hill of San Giorgio at 320 meters—one of Remo's first plantings. Erbaluce is a rare indigenous grape grown only in this tiny Piedmont appellation, documented since the 1600s, its name combining "light" and "herb." Traditional pergola training, stainless steel fermentation, lees aging for complexity. Mineral-driven with crisp green apple, lemon acidity, and pronounced minerality from white sandy moraine soils. Perfect aperitif or with seafood.
