Ferrando, Carema Etichetta Bianca, 2010
Ferrando is the legendary grower of Carema, the steep alpine appellation where Nebbiolo grows on terraced stone pillars near the Aosta Valley. Altitude gives these wines their signature high-toned elegance, more delicate than Barolo but capable of aging for decades. The Etichetta Bianca (white label) is the annual bottling, aged in a mix of large and small barrels. The 2010 was a benchmark classic vintage across Piedmont, fresh and beautifully structured; this is a wine to enjoy now and over the next decade.
