Giacomo Conterno, Barolo "Cerretta", 2010 (1.5L)

This is mature Barolo in magnum from Giacomo Conterno, one of the greatest names in all of Piedmont. Cerretta is the cru Roberto Conterno acquired in 2008, a prized Serralunga d'Alba parcel; the 2010 is among the first vintages from these holdings, and 2010 was a legendary Barolo year. Conterno's traditional approach means long aging and wines built for the very long haul, and the magnum format slows things down even further. Two decades on, this is just stretching its legs. Decant generously and pour with reverence.
