Sandrone founded his Barolo estate in 1978 and began separately bottling his parcel on the Cannubi hill (specifically the Cannubi Boschis sub-zone) in 1985. The 1989 and 1990 vintages turned him into an international superstar; from the 2013 vintage forward, the same wine has been labeled 'Aleste' — a tribute to his grandchildren Alessia and Stefano.
