Ungrafted, Carmenere, 2023

Ungrafted is a modern Chilean wine project dedicated to showcasing high-quality fruit from ungrafted vines—rare in a world where phylloxera devastated most vineyards. This bottling is 100% Carménère. It's juicy and medium-bodied, with black cherry, plum, and blackberry fruit layered with herbal notes of bell pepper, tobacco leaf, and spice. Silky tannins and fresh acidity keep it lively.

Carménère can often be heavy and overripe, but Ungrafted’s version is vibrant and balanced, showing the grape’s potential for elegance.
