Burlotto, Barolo Monvigliero, 2013
Monvigliero is Verduno's greatest vineyard and Burlotto's signature wine, made the old way: whole clusters foot-crushed, an epic 60-day maceration, and long aging in large Slavonian botti. The whole-cluster fermentation lifts the cru's spicy, floral, herbal aromatics to something singular. The 2013 came from a classic, structured vintage with serious aging potential, so at a decade-plus this is maturing gracefully while keeping plenty in reserve. A traditional Barolo icon; give it a good decant.
