Chateau Sainte-Marie, Bordeaux Superieur Vieilles Vignes, 2023
The Dupuch family has farmed Chateau Sainte-Marie since the 1980s, and when Stéphane took over in 1997, the estate converted to organic viticulture. Located in the Entre-Deux-Mers region between Bordeaux's two rivers, this Vieilles Vignes cuvée draws from some of the property's oldest plantings—including vines that famously survived the devastating 1956 frost thanks to the vineyard's high altitude. The blend is predominantly Merlot with Cabernet Sauvignon, fermented and aged in concrete to preserve freshness and fruit purity. This is honest, well-made Bordeaux at its most accessible: ripe dark fruit, gentle structure, and the kind of drinkability that makes it ideal for weeknight dinners or casual gatherings with friends.
