Domaine des Remizieres, Hermitage Cuvee Emilie, 2015

Hermitage is one of the oldest and most storied hills in the wine world, and Cuvée Émilie is Domaine des Rémizières' flagship from it — the top red the Desmeure family makes, named for a daughter of the house. This is 100% Syrah from the south-facing slopes, given a long maceration and time in barrel to build the kind of depth Hermitage is famous for. The 2015 was a warm, powerful Northern Rhône vintage, and this wine has the concentration to prove it, with years of cellaring still ahead. Serious, structured Syrah from hallowed ground.
