Ferrando, Carema Etichetta Bianca, 2007
Ferrando is the legendary grower of Carema, the tiny alpine appellation on the steep terraces where Piedmont climbs toward the Aosta Valley. Nebbiolo grown this high comes out perfumed and high-toned, more delicate than Barolo yet long-lived. The Etichetta Bianca (white label) is the estate's annual bottling, raised in a mix of large and small barrels. The 2007 was a warm, generous vintage, so this leans a touch riper and more open than the cooler years, and it's drinking beautifully now with fully resolved tannins.
