From Monforte d'Alba comes Alessandria's secret-weapon cru, the Gramolere, offering a firmer, more structured Barolo than the Verduno wines this estate is famous for. 2010 was a great classic vintage, all structure and fine acidity, and after well over a decade in bottle this one has earned its first window of maturity. Fratelli Alessandria is one of Piedmont's under-the-radar jewels, working with the satin elegance and lightness of touch that define Verduno while Gramolere brings the backbone of Monforte.
