G.D. Vajra, Barolo Albe, 2016

All roads lead to Vajra, and Albe is the door most people walk through first. It's a Barolo built from three high-altitude vineyards around the village of Vergne, the highest village in the commune of Barolo, which keeps the wine fresh, aromatic and alpine in feel. Vajra is a benchmark Piedmont family estate, and Albe shows their gift for combining structure with lift. 2016 was a celebrated, classic Barolo vintage with the grip to age. Decant it, or tuck it away a few years.
