Rogue Vine, Grand Itata Blanco Valle del Itata, 2024
Itata is one of South America's most thrilling rediscoveries: a historic Chilean valley of ancient bush vines on pure granite, and Rogue Vine, the project of Leonardo Erazo and Justin Decker, is at the heart of its revival. The Grand Itata Blanco is a field blend off old vines (some planted in 1922) of Moscatel, Riesling, Semillon and the local Chasselas they call Corinto. Fermented in concrete with lees and a bit of skin contact, native yeast and minimal sulfur, it's honest, low-alcohol and bursting with character. The 2024 is vibrant and saline, a wine of real place.
