This is Clos Rougeard, the Saumur estate so revered that its bottles vanish on release and trade like Burgundy. Le Clos (here labeled Les Clos) is the estate's foundational cuvée, blended from 50-to-70-year-old Cabernet Franc vines across Chacé, Varrains and Dampierre, raised the old way in barrel. The Foucault brothers built the legend by farming naturally and intervening as little as possible. This 2006 is a back-vintage from a private collection, now two decades on and fully mature.
