Dirty and Rowdy, Mourvedre Shake Ridge Ranch, 2019

Shake Ridge Ranch is one of the most respected vineyards in the Sierra Foothills, sitting around 2,000 feet up in Amador County on decomposed granite studded with soapstone and quartz, organically farmed since 2013. Of all the Mourvedre sites Hardy Wallace works with, Shake Ridge consistently delivers the darkest, deepest flavors, so this is the brooding end of the Dirty & Rowdy spectrum, though still made with his light hand: whole clusters, indigenous yeast, no additives, bottled unfined and unfiltered with minimal sulfur. Production is small. Give it air or a short decant.
