Jean-Luc Jamet, Cotes-du-Rhone, 2015

Northern Rhone Syrah from a famous name, at an everyday price. Jean-Luc Jamet left his family's celebrated Cote-Rotie estate in 2013 to start fresh, and this Cotes-du-Rhone is made from younger Syrah planted on clay and schist right beside the grand appellation. The 2015 was a warm, generous, highly regarded vintage across the Rhone, so this bottling carries more flesh and ripeness than the leaner years. A decade on, it's drinking in a sweet spot of fruit and developing earthiness. Enjoy over the next couple of years.
