Lorenzo Accomasso, Barolo Riserva Vigna Rocchette, 2013

A wine from one of Barolo's true cult addresses. Lorenzo Accomasso (who passed away on August 8, 2025, after his sister Elena passed away in 2016) was the La Morra hermit who quietly turned out some of the longest-lived, most traditional Barolos of the modern era from a tiny estate on Rocche dell'Annunziata. Vigna Rocchette is his personal cru-within-a-cru, a parcel of clay and limestone within the famed Rocche, vinified with spontaneous fermentations and long macerations, then aged for years in large old botti. The Riserva sees five-plus years of cask. 2013 was a classical, structured vintage. After more than a decade in the cellar, this is beginning to show its full hand, with decades still in front of it.
