Marcel Juge makes barely 150 cases of 100% Syrah a year, hand-harvested from steep granite hillsides, fermented whole-cluster under a submerged cap, aged in old demi-muids and bottled without filtration. The 2011 was a vintage of balance in the Northern Rhone, fresher and more red-fruited, emphasizing terroir over sheer ripeness. The result is a more approachable, perfumed Juge that still carries the village's savory backbone. Decant and enjoy on the earlier side.
