Arnot-Roberts, Pinot Noir Legan Vineyard, 2019
This Arnot-Roberts Pinot comes from Legan, a rugged own-rooted, dry-farmed vineyard sitting at 1,600 feet above Corralitos in the southern Santa Cruz Mountains, ringed by redwood forest. The deep Monterey Bay offshore canyon drives a constant upwelling of cold water that cools the whole region, stretching out the growing season and coaxing real delicacy from the Pinot. The sandy loam soils give a silky, aromatic wine full of earth-driven minerality and juicy fruit. Made in the house style: whole-cluster, neutral oak, lean and savory. A transparent, forest-floor Pinot from a wild mountain site.
