Bedrock Wine Company, Dry Creek Valley Lorenzo's Heritage, 2019
These are vines older than your grandparents' grandparents. Lorenzo's Heritage comes from the Teldeschi Ranch on the western bench of Dry Creek Valley, where the dry-farmed, head-trained vines were planted between roughly 1900 and 1955 in red gravelly alluvial soil. It's a true field blend, picked and co-fermented all together the way it was planted: Zinfandel leads (around 60%), backed by Carignane, Petite Sirah, and a scattering of Alicante Bouschet, Cinsault, and other odds and ends. Morgan Twain-Peterson and the Bedrock team work these old sites with native-yeast fermentation and a restrained hand with oak, so what you taste is the place, not the cellar. Built to drink now with food or hold a decade.
