An unclassifiable field-blend red from Hardy Wallace's experimental Clothing Optional project. The fruit comes from ancient vines, well over a hundred years old, in San Benito County, on the rare limestone, granite and volcanic soils that make this corner of the Central Coast so distinctive. Despite the 'Red' name, the blend is roughly three-quarters white field-blend grapes co-fermented with Mourvedre and Mission, all dry-farmed, organic and bottled with zero added sulfur. The result is a pale, savory, gulpable wine that ignores every category. Drink it lightly chilled and don't overthink it.
