Jean-Luc Jamet, Cote-Rotie Les Terrasses, 2020
Same family, different label. When the Jamet brothers parted ways in 2013, Jean-Luc Jamet struck out on his own with parcels carved from the original Domaine Jamet patrimony — not to be confused with brother Jean-Paul, who kept the family name. Les Terrasses is his foundational Côte-Rôtie, drawn from terraced schist plots high above Ampuis and vinified with a significant whole-cluster portion that gives the wine its signature floral lift. The 2020 vintage trades the cassis-forward muscle of warmer years for a redder, more aromatic cherry-and-raspberry profile, with brambly fruit, mineral reduction, and a sherbet-bright finish. Five years on, it's drinking beautifully now, though there's plenty of road ahead.
